Step 1: Apply
Your journey as a missionary with BLM begins with an application, recommendation forms, and more.
Print out the application, complete it and mail it to the BLM office. Please do not forget the
fees as they apply to you. $25 if you are single, $35 per couple.
Print out the form, give it to your pastor with a self-addressed, stamped envelop.
Print out 3 copies of the form, give one to 3 of your friends, each with a self-addressed,
stamped envelope.
Please read this document thoroughly, sign it and return it to the BLM office.
Please read this document thoroughly, sign it and return it to the BLM office.
Once all these documents are in the BLM office, your file will be reviewed and you will be contacted concerning the next step!
Step 2: Relationship
Building relationship with BLM will begin once your application process is completed and approved! We get to know you in a variety of ways. One of them is through the personality profile tools below. During this time we will begin to talk to you about your calling, and what you see yourself doing with BLM.
Each of the following is required by our office, and will be kept in your personnel file. Your information is kept secure, and only authorized administration and Board personnel are allowed access. Please click on the link below, purchase the test/assessment, and forward the results to office@biblicallife.org
BLM's Motivational Gift Survey (this one's free!)
None of these tools are used to disqualify you from your vision of ministry. They are used to help us understand you, to see where your gifts and motivational home base are, and they let us know you better.
By the time you reach this stage in the process, you should have confirmation of your acceptance as a BLM missionary, one way or the other. All BLM missionaries will be assigned a ID#, which you will use for everything in BLM.
Step 3: Prefield Preparation
Your prefield preparation will begin once your application has been approved, and you have begun to build relationship with BLM.
This step includes defining your job description, fund raising, required reading, and any additional training that your new position demands.
An exploratory trip is required –without exception- for each missionary and family that wants to work on the field for 12 months or longer. 10 days to 2 weeks in Kenya to see and work with the BLM team on the ground. You will come up with the money from your own personal investment or through fund raising once your BLM account has been approved.
As you prepare to live outside of your home culture, there are classes/training available that will help you make that adjustment. The very least that is acceptable to fulfill this requirement is Missionary Training Institute's "Splice" program. Other programs will be considered on a case by case basis.
When your budget and training requirements are met, you will move to Step 4.
Step 4: Field Deployment
Your overseas missionary deployment- and the greatest adventure of your life- begins now!!
